DECORATED DOCUMENT BOX.
America, mid 19th century, Possibly Chester or Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, pine. Black and red paint and polychrome stencil decoration. Square shaped box with fitted interior, hinged lid, and brass handle. Top of lid is steciled with fruit and leaves and the front of the box has a stenciled design of fruit and a bird. The front center of the lid has a name "D.S. Cloinger." The locking mechanism is intact, but not functional. Imperfections. 7"h. 15"w. 10"d.
Condition: Twi age cracks in sides of lid. escucheon is broken. wear to paint especially around the front of ld.
