DE DAMHOUDER, Josse.- Praxis rerum criminalium iconibus materiae subiectae convenientibus, pulchrius quam unquam hactenus recognita atque illustrata [...]. Antverpiae [ Anvers], apud Joannem Bellerum, 1562. In-4° : [23]-467-[53] pp., 69 in texto (déchirure sans manque renforcée en fond de cahier du titre, mouill. claire en haut des premiers et derniers ff.). Rel. du 17e siècle : plein veau, plats sertis d'un filet à froid, ornés d'un fer cordiforme doré, dos à nerfs (dos et pièce de titre refaits).
Première édition augmentée d'un 153e chapitre intitulé "De Justitia" et d'un appendice. Traitant du droit criminel sous forme de manuel de pratiques judiciaires usitées en Flandre, cet important ouvrage est dû à la plume du célèbre jurisconsulte brugeois et trésorier général des Pays-Bas, Josse de Damhouder (1507-1581).
SEUL EXEMPLAIRE illustré de CUIVRES, sans signature ni monogramme, tous collés dans les réserves destinées à recevoir les bois propres à cette édition. Si la plupart des 69 sujets sont en inversion par rapport aux bois (ex. comparé sur celui conservé à la KBR), nos cuivres comportent souvent de nouveaux éléments et les arrière-plans ou les décors sont inspirés de la Renaissance italienne.
Bellère est également le coéditeur de la princeps de 1554.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 100 EUR will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
