DE BRUYN, Cornelis ou LE BRUN, Corneille.- Voyage au Levant, cest-à-dire, dans les principaux endroits de l'Asie mineure, dans les isles de Chio, Rhodes, & Chypre, &c. de même que dans les plus considérables villes d'Egypte, de Syrie, et de la Terre Sainte; enrichi de plus de deux cens tailles-douces [...]. Paris, Guillaume Cavelier, 1714. In-f° : front., portrait, [12]-408-[6] pp., gravures in et hors texte (mouill. en fond des 1ers cahiers, front. part. dérelié, lég. défraîchi). Rel. de l'époque : plein veau, dos fleuronné doré à nerfs (mors fendillés, coiffe sup. manquante).
Seconde édition française de cette relation de voyage du peintre de paysage Corneille De Bruyn (1652-1726), qui séjourna 7 ans dans les pays du Levant, connut un très grand succès et fut plusieurs fois traduite et rééditée. Il voyagea en Turquie, en Palestine, en Egypte où il décrit Le Caire, Alexandrie et visita le site de Ghizeh. L'ouvrage est abondamment illustré : 1 portrait de l'auteur, 1 carte dépliante et 212 gravures in texto ou hors texte sur simple page (avec parfois plusieurs sujets par page), double ou dépliante, ces dernières figurant essentiellement des villes (Smyrne, Messine, Scio, Rhodes, Alexandrie, Bethléem, Jérusalem... et plusieurs vues de Constantinople dont une de 1.90 m de largeur, lég. rognée), les autres figurant des costumes ou la faune des pays traversés.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 100 EUR will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
