DC-24a 25c 1923
This was the last issue of the "shinplasters," although deliveries of these notes continued through March of 1932. There are three different signature combinations and one variety, with that created when the words "Authorized by R.S.C. Cap. 31" were placed on the note despite a decision by the Finance Department not to release any notes with this inscription. The example offered here was the first issued, and bears the authorization. While these are not rare notes in most grades, truly uncirculated examples are difficult to obtain, and perfectly centered and original gems such as this piece are just plain rare. This may well be the nicest example of this Charlton number that exists. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
From The Thomas M.
