David Slonim earned a Bachelor's
Degree in Illustration from Rhode Island
School of Design (BFA 1988). For ten
years he created images for clients like
IBM, UPS, and T.G.I. Fridays, turning to
fine art full-time in 1998. His paintings
are based on observation and memory
of everyday subjects, often exploring
the line between representation and
abstraction. David draws inspiration
from a wide variety of masters
including Andrew Wyeth, Edgar Degas,
Richard Diebenkorn, and Cezanne. His
exhibitions, in addition to the C.M.
Russell Auction, include the Western
Rendezvous of Art, Helena, MT; Great
American Artists, Cincinnati, OH; and
Rising Star, Desert Caballeros Museum,
AZ. His publications include US Art,
Southwest Art, Communications Arts,
Indianapolis Monthly, and Indianapolis
Star. David lives in Anderson, Indiana,
with his wife and four children.
