DARROW, CLARENCE
(1857 - 1938) American lawyer who defended Eugene Debs, Leopold and Loeb, and John T. Scopes in the infamous "Monkey Trial". Signed book, his autobiographic reminiscence of his childhood, Farmington, New York, B. W. Huebsch, 1929, boldly inscribed on the front flyleaf: "To B H Tallmadge with the regards of Clarence Darrow Chicago July 9th 1920". Boldly penned, but two letters in signature are slightly blotted, some offset to the facing pastedown, gutter cracked, overall very good.
