(1782 - 1852) American lawyer and statesman who verbally jousted with Calhoun in the Senate and later supported Clay's compromise measures on slavery. Fine, bold signature on a small slip, framed with a superb, oversize color engraving of the statesman published by Julien New York, 1855. This fantastic oversize image measures more than 20" x 28" (sight), handsomely matted in dark brown and set into a gilt frame. Fine condition, perfect for display.
