Butterfield is also credited with writing “Taps.” An unusual oversize albumen ISP, 16"x19½" full-length standing portrait in full dress uniform with hat and sword. Inscribed at length at bottom mount, “<i>To the brave men who served under my command in days gone by and who are now my comrades in the G.A.R. & belong to Post 353—Greenport Long Island—with kind regards of their old commander.</i>..” Attributed on mount to Pach Bros, New York. Dampstains at left and right margins away from image; lightly mottled, especially a 2" band in lower portion of image; still a generally very attractive image.</span></p>
