A heartwarming bronze figural group attributed to Demetre H. Chiparus (Romanian, 1886 -1947), depicting two children seated playfully on a dark green marble plinth. The figures are modeled with characteristic charm and detail - expressive faces, relaxed posture, and softly patinated surfaces in shades of gold and brown. The piece is signed D.H. Chiparus to the reverse, cast in relief on the back of the boy's garment. Mounted on a polished green marble base with deep veining, the sculpture measures approximately 7.5 inches high. While this example is likely a later 20th-century casting in the spirit of Chiparus, it reflects the warmth and sentimental realism associated with his lesser-known child studies, distinct from his more iconic Art Deco dancers.
