David Francis Barry (1854 – 1934) was a 19th-century photographer of the American West and made his reputation traveling throughout the Plains and especially to Fort Buford and Fort Yates in the Dakotas and Fort Assiniboine in Montana, photographing Lakota people such as Sitting Bull, Rain-in-the-Face, Gall (Lakota Phizí), John Grass (Lakota Charging Bear) others. The Lakota people nicknamed him "Little Shadow Catcher." This photograph of the famous Lakota warrior was taken at Fort Yates in Dakota Territory. The photograph is professionally mounted in a matted oak wood frame. The photograph and frame are both in nice condition.
