<B>Czar Nicholas II Document Signed</B></I> "<I>Nicholas</B></I>" (in Cyrillic). One page, 8.5" x 14", np, December 24, 1914. The document bears the ornately printed heading, "Imperial Decree to the Chapter of Russian Imperial and Royal Orders", and awards the Arms of St. George to Captain Mikhail Sablin. This award was recommended by the Commander of the Black Sea fleet because of the captain's bravery "under the broad pennant of the mine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet". World War I had started, and while this occupied the Russian people for a time, nevertheless revolution had been in the air for years, and finally the deflections of ill-fed, ill-clothed soldiers on the Western front helped lead to the Revolution of 1917 that deposed Nicholas and instituted Communist rule. In very fine condition; slightly yellowed; no edge wear; stamp on lower edge does not affect the text.
