American publisher of magazines and newspapers (1850–1933) including the Ladies' Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post. Curious ALS signed “C.H.K.C., The first thing in the morning since 1836,” one page, 8.25 x 10, The Waldorf-Astoria letterhead, no date but circa 1910–1919. Handwritten letter to "Don," in full: "The Camden judge was humane. He might have sent this woman to New York. He surely was merciful when we consider what Jersey justice means." In very good to fine condition, with irregular toning and a few trivial areas of paper loss. Includes a newspaper clipping on the subject at hand, "Woman Doomed to Live Forever in Philadelphia!," describing a woman being sentenced to remain in Philadelphia for the rest of her life after being charged with public intoxication in New Jersey.
