Custom engraved Colt third generation Colt SAA revolver, 44-40 cal., 5-1/2" barrel, nickel finish with inked engraving background and fire blued ejector rod tip, cylinder pin, cylinder pin release, trigger andscrews, custom ivory grips, #SA98124. This outstanding work of firearm art is in like new condition and extensively engraved by the noted Master engraver Leonard Francolini, often refered to as the Michelangelo ofmodern engraving. Coverage on the barrel assembly includes a tastefully performed intertwining scroll with stippled background at the muzzle where the front sight has been cut out and provided with an inked wash thatmakes the engraving stand out and appear three dimensional as it does on the balance of the Colt including the frame, cylinder, loading gate, straps and hammer. The grips are beautifully grained and show a mellowivory color. Accompanying this SAA is a letter dated December 9, 1996 from Jim Alaimo covering additional details of the custom work on this gun and providing documentation to the work of Francolini. Est.:
