Custom deluxe “D” style engraved Colt SAA revolver by Colt Master engraver Denise Thirion and 24 K gold inlaid by Colt Master engraver Leonard Francolini, .45 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue finish, one- piece African ivory grips, #S18980A. This high art firearm showcases Denise Thirion’s finest Italian scroll with coverage on all parts of the revolver including the front sight and hammer. It also shows Francolini’s gold inlay work that many in the collector’s world say is unsurpassed in quality and detail. The inlay includes double banding on the barrel assembly, scrolling on the frame, cylinder, hammer, loading gate, back strap and trigger guard; gold inlay is also present as the left side barrel “Colt Single Action Army .45”, the two line patent address on the left side of the frame and a raised Rampant Colt figure behind the patent address. The finish is 99%+ and the ivory grips are excellent with beautiful graining and color. A really spectacular piece showing collaboration of two expert contemporary engraving artists. Included with this gun is a letter dated November 21, 1999 from Jim Alaimo providing additional information on this gun and the two Master engravers involved in creating this piece of artwork.
