This is an example of a customized Sharps Borchardt rifle of unknown origin. The rifle retains the original receiver with a Stevens 28" part octagon barrel with standard J. Stevens A&T markings, with "C.R.C." on the left rear flat and equipped with a globe front sight and no provisions for a rear sight. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel ahead of he forearm. The left side of the receiver is marked "BORCHARDT PATENT / SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT CONN. / U.S.A.". The receiver is fitted with double set triggers and a custom three finger lever. The rifle is mounted with a custom checkered forearm with accessory rail and custom palm rest and a replacement mid-range smooth walnut pistol grip stock with brass grip cap and crude, ill-fitting Schuetzen style two prong buttplate. There is a contemporary vernier style mid-range peep sight mounted on top of the wrist. With 12 extra front sight apertures.
BBL: 28 inch part octagon
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 22 LR
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 7589
Condition: Good as custom modified. The barrel has a smooth refinished brown patina, with a smooth gray patina on the remaining metal surfaces, (the buttplate doesn't appear to have been finished). The wood is very good with a few scattered minor handling marks and very crisp checkering. The palm rest retains traces of the varnish with the balance flaked off. The stock is a little loose fitting to the receiver. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
