Manufactured in 1891 and subsequently custom engraved in the mid-20th century. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, blue finish with barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it with delivered as one of 200 to the U.S. Government Inspector located at the Colt plant on March 18, 1891. The remarks note that a 7 1/2" barrel and walnut grips were considered standard for the time period. The revolver features a floral engraved design with a punch dot background on the rear sides of the barrel, outer edge of the ejector housing, frame, trigger guard bow and back strap. There is a five point star on the recoil shield and a sunburst on the loading gate. The mismatched replacement cylinder flats are decorated with simple floral designs. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel (under the ejector), bottom of the frame and trigger guard. The cylinder is numbered "0065". The bottom of the barrel is marked with a "P" and "R.A.C.". "R.A.C." is also marked on the bottom of the frame above the serial number and on the cylinder. The letter "K" is stamped on the trigger guard below the serial number and the loading gate has the assembly number "1399". The top of barrel is marked with the one line address (faint), and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by "U.S." in a panel. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with two piece pearl grips.

Unless noted above, the markings are clear, and the engraving remains crisp. "45 COLT" marking on barrel was added. No serial number in present on the back strap. The action is very good.
