Manufactured in 1896 and subsequently custom embellished in the 20th Century in the factory #1 pattern. The sides of the receiver are nicely engraved with fine floral scroll and geometric designs, with gold inlaid wire bordering. The left side of the receiver also has two gold inlaid deer in a wooded scene with a gold inlaid wire border and there is a gold inlaid moose in a wooded scene on the right side with the same gold inlaid wire border, which also extends around the loading port. There is a wedge of scroll engraving on the upper breech end barrel flats and the side flats at the muzzle with double gold inlaid bands around the breech and a single band around the muzzle. There are gold inlaid accents on the hammer and lever sides as well as simple scallop engraved bordering. The barrel is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight, the nickel steel marking is on the left rear flat behind the rear sight and "30 W.C.F." at the breech on the top flat. The barrel is equipped with a blade front and three leaf rear sights and there is a tang mounted short range peep sight. Mounted with a nicely grained checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a steel end cap, hard rubber grip cap with light scroll engraving and crescent buttplate with scroll work on the tang. The included photocopy of the factory letter confirms the serial number, octagon barrel, plain trigger, fancy checkered pistol grip stock, and takedown configuration. The rifle was received in the warehouse on June 30, 1899 and shipped on August 30, 1899.
