Custom Engraved Colt Model 1908 Hammerless Pocket Pistol with Pearl Grips and Box
Manufactured in 1912, this pistol is pictured in John Brunner's THE COLT POCKET HAMMERLESS AUTOMATIC PISTOLS (page 211, 1st edition). Brunner states that this pistol was shipped without an engraving on October 19, 1912 to Sears Roebuck & Co., Chicago, Illinois. However, Brunner notes the "K" on the trigger guard and a repaired notation in the production book (R-11917-2-B) and therefore the engraving was possibly done at the factory when the pistol was returned. The extensive scroll and punch dot engraving is featured on the slide, frame, and grip safety, with a floral blossom on the rear of the slide and a checkered pattern on the front of the trigger guard. The engraving surrounds the two line address/patent date marking on the left side of the slide and "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 25" on the right side. All blue finish, with recessed Colt medallion pearl grips. The bottom of the magazine is marked "CAL.25 / COLT" with a wedge of scrollwork. Complete with a factory box numbered to a different gun, but with the correct end label.
