Custom Engraved Colt Bisley Model Single Action Revolver
Manufactured in 1897 and subsequently custom engraved. The rear sides of the barrel, full cylinder flats, forward portion of the ejector housing, frame and upper backstrap are nicely floral scroll and punch dot engraved. There are burst patterns on the sides of the muzzle, trigger guard shoulders, upper backstrap sides, heel and on the right side of the frame directly in front of the cylinder. The same scroll pattern is present around the backstrap screw. The upper sides of the frame in front of the cylinder have a diamond and circle design. The replacement barrel is marked with the one line address on the right side and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left, both markings are in a panel amid the engraving. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates and the loading gate is marked with assembly number "96". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and trigger guard. The ejector rod, cylinder pin, release, screws, hammer, trigger, trigger guard and backstrap are gold washed and the frame, cylinder and barrel nickel. Fitted with simulated pearl grips with gold Colt medallions.

Custom embellished with almost all of the gold plating on the small components and 75% thinning gold on the trigger guard and backstrap. There is some pitting under the finish on the trigger guard, front strap, trigger and hammer. The remaining parts retain nearly all of the nickel finish with light pitting under the finish on the barrel and a little heavier pitting in the sight groove. There are a few small areas of minor pitting under the finish and some areas of frosting. The grips are ill-fitting at the tops, otherwise near mint with only light handling marks. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
