Custom Engraved Black Powder Colt Single Action Army Etched Panel Frontier Six Shooter Revolver with Ivory Grips

Manufactured in 1881 and subsequently professionally custom embellished in the 20th century. The revolver has a blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer and fitted with a smooth ivory grip. The barrel has an acid etched "COLT. FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" panel on the left side and the one line Hartford address is stamped on top with engraved scroll and punch dot wedges at the breech. The frame has the three line, three patent date marking with a scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides. The recoil shield and loading gate have a fan engraving and the top strap has a zigzag line pattern. The top of the ejector rod housing has a zigzag and dot engraving. The grip straps are engraved with a zigzag line and dot pattern with a fan pattern engraved on the top of the back strap. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped "44 CAL". The cylinder has various engraved patterns showing a wavy zigzag band at the rear with a scroll pattern and zigzag line and dot pattern alternating on the chambers. Numbers match on the frame and grip straps with the assembly number "2145" on the loading gate.

Very fine as professionally custom embellished. The revolver retains nearly all of the blue and casehardened finish with only the slightest handling marks. The grips are excellent showing some hairline age cracks at the top and bottom. The ivory has a very attractive color. Mechanically excellent.
