Custer. Scarce book by Elizabeth B. (Mrs. George) Custer, Following the Guidon. Harper & Bros., N.Y., 1890. Army-green cloth strikingly decorated with American flag and guidon (pennant) of Custer's cavalry and crossed bullets, hot-stamped in gold, silver, red, blue, and black. 5 x 7 -1/2 , 342 pp., sixteen full-page woodcuts drawn especially for this work, including "Captured Chiefs Fat Bear, Dull Knife, and Big Head" and frontispiece scene of "Gen. Custer and his [Indian] Scouts." Superbly written treasury of Western and Indian lore, mentioning "Gen. Custer" numerous times, as well as her father- and mother-in-law, black servants, buffalo, and much more. Old rubber stamp of London reader; contemporary inscription on title page "...Bermuda 1891." Light marginal toning, tip wear, else very good, and suitable for display open or closed. Fascinating.
