Custer Period Colt Single Action Revolver
Colt Single Action Army, U.S. Cavalry model, #17634, 1876, .45 LC, J inspected, very good bore, silver gray overall, 1-piece walnut grips slightly undersized; comes with John Kopec letter of authentication explaining that the revolver is all original except that the 7 1/2” barrel has been shortened to 4 3/4”, and that, by its serial number, was probably issued to the 7th Cavalry to replace those lost at the Big Horn Battle. This serial number falls between two known 7th Cavalry examples, numbers 17586 and 17647. The worn grips have brands carved into them on either side. Original parts as mentioned in the Kopec letter.
