<B>Edward S. Curtis Original Portfolio Photogravure "Captain Charley - Maricopa" Plate 71</B></I> on Japanese Rice Tissue mounted on vellum, copyright 1907. Original image size 11.75" x 15.5" with the plate number at upper left, title at lower left, and captioned at the bottom "From Copyright Photograph 1924 by E. S. Curtis" and "Photogravure John Andrew & Son". Matted and custom framed to an overall size of 21.5" x 25.5". The Maricopa (piipaash) were a group that lived in the Salt River area. They were photographed by Curtis and included in Volume 2 of <I>The North American Indian</B></I> where he wrote, "This portrait shows clearly the strongly Yuman cast of features retained by this branch of the stock."
