For your consideration is 1952 first edition of "Currier and Ives' America" edited by Colin Simkin and published by Crown Publishers in New York. This book is filled with 80 full-color prints from the original lithographs depicting the American life as illustrated by Currier and Ives. The color plates were in the collection of The Travelers Insurance Companies, most of which were originally used in the publication of the Companies' annual calendar. The colored plates are vivid and bright and show various scenes of hunting, horse racing, home scenes, lavish country houses, trains and more. The book is bound in a hard cover and reads, "Currier and Ives' America" in blue lettering. The spine of the book is blue and reads, "Simkin / Currier and Ives' America / Crown" in gold gilt lettering. The book shows good condition overall with wear present to the corners of the cover but no signs of obvious damage is noted. The interior pages are in good condition overall showing no foxing, staining or tears. The book measures 12 3/16" L x 16 1/16" W x 3/4" D and weighs 2 pounds and 14 ounces.
