This is an excellently beaded pistol holster from the Crow Native American Indians from the 19th Century. The piece shows wonderful 19th century glass trade seed beads in an exceptional and rare snake clan design with bead such as: sky blue, greasy yellow, Cheyenne pink, medium green, dark blue. The item is constructed of Indian tanned hide with a Parfleche lining. Provenance: This is from a very large Native American Beadwork private museum collection in Wisconsin and was originally collected in Montana. The holster or pistol scabbard is believed to be made for the Colt Army Pistol. The piece is in very well preserved museum quality condition with no visible damages or bead loss. Measures 12”L x6” W with an additional 4”L fringe, this also has a 21.5”L dual top strap for attaching to a belt.
