This is a Crow Native American fully beaded moccasins from the Otto Ernst Collection. The moccasins are beaded across the entire tops and sides with an excellent teepee and cross design on Buffalo Bison hide with saddle leather soles. The set is from circa 1890 with 19th century glass trade seed beads in greasy yellow, light blue, Cheyenne pink, dark green, navy blue, and violet. This was purchased from the King Saddlery Museum in Sheridan, Wyoming where the Ernst Family had the collection displayed.. The pieces were original collected and sold by Otto F. Ernst in the 19th century. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming. Each measures 8.5” L across the soles. Original Museum tags. Little to no bead loss.
