Crow Fully Beaded EXCEPTIONAL Awl Case c. 1900-
The lot features an amazing fully beaded awl case from the Crow Native American Indians from the early 1900’s. The piece shows a Buffalo Bison Indian tanned hide with unbelievable large strap with long rope fully beaded fringe at the base. The beadwork is all period correct glass trade seed cen and pony beads in linear geometric design. The beadwork is in chalk white, cobalt, custer yellow, medium green, greasy blue, greasy red, red, blue. The piece also shows various rolled tin jingle cones with red feather lining. The piece shows a large awl case with wide opening and nice typical flap showing two long rope beaded bifurcated fringe off the flap. The bottom of the awl case shows a split wide Buffalo hide fringe that is again fully beaded “rope” around. This is the largest awl case we have ever offered. The top flap is being held on by only a few strands of trade thread. The beadwork is in good condition with little loss. Measures overall 38.5”L
