The lot features an excellent set of high-top moccasins from the Crow Apsaalooke Native American Indians with beatuiful beadwork. The set, which was intended for use by a child, shows an Indian tanned hide construction with sinew sewing and gorgeous beadwork in a geometric pattern with all period correct early glass seed and petit seed beads in a butterscotch and red coloring. The moccasins show a high-top ankle with original Indian tanned hide straps, the ankle leg wraps show a fancy beaded finish. The base shows a thick Great American Bison Buffalo rawhide parfleche thick soles that are sinew sewn. The moccasins are stuffed with old yellowed newspaper. Provenance: The set has been examined by a renowned beadwork expert and found to be correct and are from one of the best American Indian collections in Montana, located in Billings. Each measures 5.5"L soles that are 7.25"H at the ankle and 2.5"W at the base.
