This is a Crow Native American Indian beaded hat band or small belt from the Otto Ernst Collection. The piece features 19th century trade seed beads sinew sewn in a Crazy Crow or Salt and Pepper design on a saddle leather base. The piece is from early 1900 and shows well preserved good condition. This was purchased from the King Saddlery Museum in Sheridan, Wyoming where the Ernst Family had the collection displayed. The pieces were original collected and sold by Otto F. Ernst in the 19th century. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming. Measures 27” L and 5/8” wide (has a 3/4”x7/8” buckle). Original Museum tags. Little to no bead loss.
