The lot features a set of beaded, hard soled hide moccasins from the Crow Apsaalooke Native American Indians, dating to circa 1890. The set features a hard soled, parfleche rawhide sole and a sinew sewn Indian tanned hide top with glass trade seed beadwork in a geometric pattern. The beadwork shows colors of faceted yellow, chalk white, red white heart, sky padre blue, and iridescent. The set shows hide fringe dusters at the rear and the ankle has a blue silk ribbon trade cloth edge, accented by a semi-transparent fancy beaded border. The set shows some bead loss and hide loss, consistent with its early age. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Measures 11”L by 3.75”W by 2.5”H.
