(Crosby, Sylvester S). NOVEMBER 1873 CIRCULAR BY CROSBY ADVERTISING THE EARLY COINS OF AMERICA. Single sheet, 12 by 9.25 inches, folded in half, with advertisement printed on first resulting page and with interiors comprising a facsimile of the 1873 title page. Printed on the same paper ordered for the book's printing. Fine. A very interesting piece of ephemera concerning what is almost certainly the most important book ever written on American numismatics. Crosby seeks additional subscribers to the work, pointing out that the first five parts had already been printed: "It is issued in parts of thirty-two large quarto pages each, on heavy, tinted paper, (of which this sheet is a sample, in size and quality,) in large, clear type, at the rate of one dollar per part, and will probably be completed in ten parts, five of which are now ready for distribution. It is intended that one part shall be issued each month until the work is completed."
