In 1856 he re-emerged as the candidate of the nativist "Know Nothing" Party, the culmination of a political and social movement depicted so effectively in the motion picture <I>Gangs of New York.</B></I> This ribbon is the mate to the similar example for Fillmore's victorious opponent, James Buchanan, which is offered elsewhere in this sale.
