Creig Flessel - Sandman Illustration Original Art
Creig Flessel - Sandman Illustration Original Art (1998). The Grand Old Man of DC comics, Creig Flessel, recalls his slam-bang cover scenes for Adventure Comics # 40 and also #51, spotlighting the Sandman deploying his gas gun, in this terrific full-color mixed-media illustration. Flessel started working for DC Comics after answering a help-wanted ad in 1936, and of this writing, Creig is still going strong -- he's the iron man of comics! Flessel took over the Sandman feature when Bert Christman left the comics field to join the famed Flying Tigers, but Creig drew all the covers featuring the character from the very beginning, starting in 1939. The image area of the art measures 11" x 17" and the art is in Excellent condition.
