This 7-1/4" tall Bottle-form is uncommon and rarely pictured in exhibition catalogs. The elaborate and intricate incised design is overall and masterfully done. The major reference for this type is "SUNG CERAMIC DESIGNS' by Jan Wirgin, 1979 Reprint, London, of the original article in The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities Bulletin No. 42, Stockholm, 1970. Plate 22 shows several of this bottle-type with slightly varying rims, all with more-or-less similar artwork (some much less fine) and apparently also creamware or lighly colored celadon. A bit toned surface here, especially at the shoulder, but blending nicely towards the creamier glaze color as the base is approached. A stunning feast for the eyes and undervalued at the starting bid level.
