<td width="100%">
Lovely cranberry glass Victorian match striker with a silver top.
Lovely medium color throughout. It is topped with a wide band
of silver which is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1904. It is
in great condition with only few nibbles to the glass showing
where the matches were struck. The well in the center is where
the matches were kept and then they would have been struck
on the sides where the thin bands of raised threaded glass
would provide the necessary friction to set the match aflame.
The colored glass features are highly desirable by collectors and
the size and weight of this one makes it especially sought after.
The third photo show it with a matching cranberry striker - with
the same hallmark (it is the one on the left). The final photos
shows it 2nd in a line up with the other cranberry
strikers listed on our site 8/ 9/04
