This is a hand painted oil recreation of a W.A. Walker. Walker
was a native of Charleston, SC and was very prolific after the
Civil War. He was the first person to create souveniers for
travelers. His paintings were usually small, about the size of this
one (111/4x161/4) so they could fit right into a suitcase.
Walker's original paintings are selling now for approximately
$44,000. The artist died in 1921. This charming painting
depicts a cotton picker standing beside a field in a striped blue
and white hat.
