Cosmopolitan percussion SRC, .52 cal., 20” barrel, blue finish, wood butt stock, #693. This gun is in overall fine condition showing approx.70% muted original blue mixed with a plum brown on barrel and receiver, brightertraces of blue on lock plate, sharp markings, fine bore, crisp action, overall fine wood stock with some scattered mars from storage. Approx. 1,140 of these carbines were manufactured and reportedly were sent to thestate of Illinois for cavalry use, delivered by June, 1862 and issued to the 5th and 6th Illinois cavalry; they also were the predecessor to the Gwyn & Campbell carbine, to be later produced at the same factory.Est.: $1,400-$2,800.
