Two stock documents for the Beech Creek, Clearfield & South Western Railroad Company, both signed by Cornelius Vanderbilt II, "C. Vanderbilt." The first is a stock certificate for 50 shares issued to C. H. Noyes, July 2, 1883, signed in ink by Vanderbilt as treasurer. The second is a receipt for $2000, being an assessment of $5 per share due September 10, 1883, to Joseph M. Gazzam, also signed by Vanderbilt as treasurer. Matted and framed together with a portrait (bearing his facsimile signature) and railroad image to an overall size of 20 x 22. In fine condition. Originally chartered in 1882, the Beech Creek Railroad operated in central Pennsylvania between Jersey Shore and Mahaffey.
