Note: This coin is from the famous 'VOC Dump Stuivers' series of Ceylon, minted locally in Colombo, Galle, Trincomalee, and Jaffna. The inception of the VOC Dump coinage in Ceylon was driven by the persistent shortage of small change in the province, prompting the Colombo council to authorize the striking of copper Stuivers within Ceylon itself.
