These copper epuiser pictures are unusual and lovely! A set of three (3) in varnished wooden frames, they show, respectively, a still life floral arrangement, an 18th century lady, and an 18th century gentleman. The entire images are made of copper and are from a sheet of 1/16-inch copper.

The images are created by a French technique of "epuiser", in which the metal is "pushed out from within" or from the other side from which the image is to be viewed. This is the very same technique by which the Statue of Liberty was sculpted!

Although the images were taped to the wooden frames at the time of their manufacture, they and the frames are both in excellent condition! The frames may have been intended to be for temporary display of these items. The pictures each measure 7 x 3 1/2 inches. They are in excellent condition.

I estimate these items to be of 1930s-1940s vintage.
