Continental R670-5 Aircraft Engine (38x15") mounted beneath a 68" glass topped coffee table and with a cut-down wooden propeller (26x9") projecting through the tabletop in the center. Continental Motors was the world's largest maker of engines for use in cars and commercial vehicles built by others in the 1920s. This American based company introduced the R670-5 or the W-670 as it was called in 1934. During WW II, this 7 cylinder engine became famous as the power plant for the Boeing Stearman PT-117 US Army "Kaydet" and the US Navy N2S-1"Yellow Peril" trainers. This engine put out 210 horsepower at 2,,000 RPM with a displacement of 668 cubic inches and weighs 430 lbs. It appears to be in excellent condition and, as a coffee table, is sure to promote enthusiastic comment from your friends. Professional packing/shipping required. Ex: the Santa Monica Museum of Flying collection. Estimate: $ 1,000 - 1,500
