This marbled-edge Continental note is unlike any other from the entire series of 102 different pieces. These Twenty Dollar Bills were printed on weak, thin white paper that had been furnished by Benjamin Franklin. The left end of the bills has a polychrome multicolor anticounterfeiting device that gives the notes a distinctly different appearance. They were also considerably wider and shorter than any of the other Continentals. The back of this example, as on all known pieces, is inverted. The note has been sewn back together along a split center fold, and it has two tape repairs in the margins of the back, as well as a few edge splits. The polychromed edge remains bright, and the note is a respectable example of this incredibly popular piece.
