Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $40 Choice New. Newman describes seven different varieties of Counterfeit $40 Yorktown notes in his Fourth Edition "The Early Paper Money of America." This is the third. Its most easily seen defining characteristic is in the fifth line of the text on the face, where all seven letters of the word "thereof" have their bases lower than any of the letters in "Value," the word that precedes it. This British-sponsored counterfeit was very deceptive and represented another example of economic warfare. This note has huge margins and great signatures thus giving the appearance of a superb gem note.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
