Very Choice New-64 “PPQ” Continental “FUGIO” Note
Continental Congress. February 17, 1776. Two Thirds of a Dollar. Plate “B”. “FUGIO” Design. PCGS graded Very Choice New-64 Premium Paper Quality.
Fr. CC-22. This vivid and impressive note has excellent eye appeal. The face and back motifs were created by Benjamin Franklin, his maxim theme “TIME FLYS - SO MIND TO YOUR BUSINESS.” This famous design was also used by the Continental Congress on the 1776 dated CONTINENTAL DOLLAR. The face has a sundial and “FUGIO” motifs, the emblem to the left side on this denomination. The back design shows an interlocked chain of Thirteen Links, representing the original 13 American Colonies, surrounding the legend “WE ARE ONE.”

This is the highest denomination from the four note fractional Continental Dollar portion of this February 17, 1776 series. This exceptional crisp note has virtually full clear margins on all four sides, the bottom right face a bit tight but clear of the outer designs. There is a neat small piece of wood pulp fiber, original to the paper making, near center. The back is both boldly printed and perfectly centered. Boldly signed in deep rich red by C. Lewis. Imprint of printer “Hall and Sellers.” A quality “Fugio” type note on this very historic Continental Congress issue.
