Lot of 3: “In 1871,” according to the Online Archive of California, “James Flood began to buy stock in Consolidated Virginia and, joined by John Mackay, James Fair, and William O`Brien, formed the Bonanza Firm.” The Consolidated Virginia Mining Company was founded in 1867. The Big Bonanza was struck in 1873 and produced over $100 million of ore between 1873 and 1882. These documents include an April 1876 Memorandum of Bullion regarding the deposit of bars #792 and 793, a memorandum concerning deposits from Eclipse Mill, Booths Mill, Santiago Mill, Daney Mill, and Island. Also, an 1878 letter from R.C. Stone to Adolph Sutro. Rare, and in wonderful condition. - Jacobitz Collection -59940
