1875 This is a letter from the Con Virginia Main Offices in S.F. to one Edward Tompkins Esq. of the IRS/ Treasury Dept. in Washington D.C. The hand-written body of the letter (very legible) and states that Mr. Tompkins is not, and never was a stockholder, and therefore is not due any dividends. It continues to illuminate means to achieve such dividends, provided Mr. Tompkins follows the correct procedures. The cover is a Wells-Fargo, with postage and postmark affixed. Both pieces are in excellent condition. Located in Virginia City on the Comstock Lode, the Consolidated Virginia Mine was one of the top two producing mines on the Comstock, and by the time it’s neighbor and chief competitor, the California Mine merged with the company, it was the most important mine in Nevada’s history. Together, the two mines produced over $125 million in gold and silver. It also paid almost $75 million in dividends. The great names of the Comstock such as Mackay, Fair, Flood and O`Brien are all part of the Con Virginia history. - HKA#65195
