This rifle features a blade front and three leaf rear sights. The top barrel flat from the rear sight to the breech is matte, the left upper flat is marked "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS LONDON" and "22LR" and the upper right flat "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON". The barrel is sleeved down from a larger caliber, most likely by factory as evidenced by the previously mentioned markings. There is a sling swivel mounted on the bottom of the barrel. The frame, hammer, lock, trigger guard and break lever are engraved with scroll and floral designs and the lock is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". The barrel, trigger guard and break lever are blue, with casehardened remaining parts. The rifle is mounted with a checkered walnut forearm with horn forend cap and pistol grip stock with an engraved grip cap, cheekpiece, serrated bare butt, sling swivel and gold initial oval. Both come in a contemporary hard leather takedown case with leather straps and corner protectors and red fabric lining. In the case is an original Holland & Holland label which reads Special Non-Fouling/HOLLAND & HOLLAND/Rook & Rabbit Rifles/Gun & Rifle Manufacturers,/98 New Bond Street, London, W./Factory at Harrow Road w./Shooting Grounds at Kensal Rise,/And Perivale Ealing W.".

Condition: Fine as partially refinished, the blue components with 99% remaining. The remaining parts have a silver gray patina with some minor pitting on the left side of the frame. The wood is very good. The forend cap has separated slightly and there is a small chip at the rear. There is a moderate chip on the underside at the knuckle. There is a minor crack on the upper left wrist and the wood has been lightly sanded in that area. There are a couple of minor fill repairs on either side of the lower tang. Overall there are a few minor dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good plus with a few minor scuffs on the exterior and excellent lining.

B) Single brass bead sight, the top flat of the octagon portion of the barrel is matte, with "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" on the upper right flat and "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS LONDON" on the upper left. The bottom barrel flat under the forearm is import marked. The frame, trigger guard, break lever, hammer and lock are engraved with floral and scroll designs, with the lock marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". Casehardened lock, hammer, grip cap and frame, with blue remaining parts. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a cheekpiece, serrated bare butt and gold initial oval. 3 inch chamber, choke gauges at full, with extractor. Length of pull is 14 inches.

Condition: Fine as partially refinished, the blue components and the wood, with most of the blue present on the barrel mixed with smooth plum patina and some pitting under the finish under the forearm. The trigger guard and break lever retain 99% blue finish. The remaining metal surfaces have a silver gray patina with some minor pitting on the frame. The wood remains very good overall with some cracking, splintering around an old fill repair at the upper tang. Overall the checkering is very crisp. The engraving and markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
