There were three Connolly brothers Jack, Patrick, and Andrew. They all moved together from Minnesota and opened a saddle shop in Butter, Montana in 1907. Jack and Pat moved to Billings and opened a saddlery in 1912.Their father John taught them everything they knew and died while working on a saddle in Billings, Montana. The Connolly’s were one of the most well-known saddle makers in Montana. This saddle was built in 1950’s.This saddle has been identified by Connolly Saddlery in Billings, Montana as being built by Chuck Harris who was married to Patrick Connolly's daughter, Alice. Patrick Connolly died in 1950, leaving the saddlery to his sonJohn and daughter Alice. The saddle is on a modified type Sid Special tree. The craftsmanship is one of the highest qualities seldom seen. The saddle has a low Cheyenne roll which was typical and popular during the1950’s. This saddle has an excellent condition showing impressive hand carved floral tooling across the entire piece. The saddle has a __" seat.
