Artist-signed faience (tin-glazed earthenware) platter from Conimbriga, Portugal on pickled pine tray table. Conimbriga, Portugal is known for its fine reproductions of 15th-17th century Portuguese faience which was stylistically influenced by Eastern ceramics from China and Arabia. The hand-painted pieces often depict rare birds and greenery on a background of white.<p>This octagonal platter depicts a peacock and songbirds among leaves, vines, and flowers. It measures about 17.75 inches by 13.75 inches by 2 inches. Painted on the back is "33-A, ESTRELA DE CONIMBRIGA, PORTUGAL, SEC XVII, 9, ROSA"; there is also an impressed 11. There are three holes that can be used for hanging the platter. The platter is in very good to excellent condition, with vivid colors, a shining glaze, and no chips or cracks.<p>The platter comes with an octagonal pickled pine tray table that measures about 21 inches high, 17 inches long, and 13 inches wide. It has a great European country look and can be used with or without the platter. It is very sturdy, with minimal wear. Together, the platter and table make a stunning accent piece.
