Provenance: From an important Austrian private collection
The present mortar is made of cast bronze and has a conical shape, which is slightly curved outwards. The foot is designed in form of a double stepped ring. The mortar is not decorated but has a dense, beautiful patina. The matching pestle is probably original.
The mortar shows some wear marks. Furthermore, a part of the foot is missing. The dimensions of the bronze mortar are 16 x 12 cm, and the pestle is 22.3 cm long. The overall weight is about 7.65 kilograms.
